Walter the Orange Ocean: News

Thank you all who made it out to make our cd release with Baker and 'Afro DZ ak' an awesome event! With the help of 4friends Events, we were able to host a party for the arrival of our new cd 'Caught In the Air'. It was held at our own space which was essentially an empty floor of a office building downtown Worcester. It was turned into our own club for just one night. Take a look!

Worcester Magazine's Turtle Boy awards voting has been tallied and our very own Dan Burke has been voted best singer/songwriter! There are a number of shows taking place around Worcester to honor the winners and we will be playing thursday night at Nick's Bar and Restraunt Thursday May 1st! the show is free.

The band is nominated under 'Indie band', and singer Dan Burke is also up for Singer/Songwriter

We are drawing ever closer to finishing up our new EP. We are happy to say the songs have all passed the Dancability Scale, which we implemented early on in the recording process. Basically, each song has been under constant scrutiny to assure that it initiates hip gyrating, shoulder thrusts, or booty shaking. Mission accomplished.

hey folks! We had a nice break from recording during the holidays and will be getting back to it soon. The files we started at home transferred well into the studio. Kurt had a marathon day of drumming to get the studio work off the ground. Things are moving along nicely.

We have been working away on our recordings in the comfort of Dan's Worcester apartment. Within days we'll be in Firefly Studio laying down drums, vocals, and hopefully whatever else calls out to us!

So far we have some basic work done on 7 songs. The process has been wonderful allowing us to settle on parts we all believe in. The main cost has been time and starting from scratch here and there..

We'll be pulling to have our cd release midway to 3/4 through the first quarter of 2008. Is that vague enough?

Just keep checking in for updates, and don't be shy to use the message board to say hello or root us on.

We're happy to report, after going up against four fantastic acts in the Firefly Recording Studios' first annual Battle of the Bands, we squeaked into first place by one vote!! A big thanks goes out to everybody who came out to support us at the Paradise Lounge!

Our prize is a two day lockout at the beautiful Firefly Studios as well as cd duplication! We can't wait to get into this beautiful studio and put together some tracks for the next cd!!!

Walter the Orange Ocean and guitarist Daniel Hedley are parting ways! After one jam-packed year and a half, Hedley is returning to his west coast habitat. We made great music and have a whole album to show for it. We wish Hedley the best and we will continue performing as a trio, just like back in the day.

No... none of us have learned HTmL, but we have claimed control of our website and are going to give running it ourselves a shot! Be in touch and wish us luck
